Reykjavik Street Food

It was really delicious, made from scratch, very fresh, piping hot. It's served in a take-out carton cup with a packaged white bread roll. Was just right to warm up and have a quick lunch bite after walking around on a rainy day. Limited menu and only one vegetarian option (it is street food, not a full restaurant, so that isn't a minus, just so people know). Very nice staff & good vibe.

Their food is better than one of the fancy and expensive restaurants in Reykjavik. They have a generous serving of fish stew that I always have leftover to take back to the hotel. Their food is delicious and affordable. There's a lot to choose from but I always come back for the Icelandic meat soup and fish stew.

I'm from the UK where we are low-key obsessed with fish and chips but the food here was some of the best I've had - really crisp chips, light batter and not at all greasy, generous chunks of fish perfectly cooked.   This is a fabulous place, which offers a great service and great food. We loved the fish stew which is more like a French brandade de morue or a British... read more fish pie. It was an excellent introduction to Icelandic food.

We also had the amazing lobster soup, which was so generous and stayed warm for a long time, a bonus on a cold evening when we had just been battered by the rain outside. The chicken noodle soup was the icing on top of the cake, as it helped us recover from the introduction to the Icelandic weather patterns.

We received an excellent service, friendly and quick, and the lady at the front of house was so warm and gave us a few treats which came in handy for the rest of the trip.

All in all, a must go to place in Reykjavik, with a view of getting the fish and chips next time which gets great reviews...

As soon... read more as you walk in, the host is there with perfect Icelandic hospitality. He is gruff and loveable, and makes sure you know exactly how many sweets to eat before your food (all of them) and exactly how much food to get (all of it). He welcomed us like old friends when we came back, and seems to do this for everyone that comes in. It's absolutely lovely.

The food is brilliant. Street kitchen style, served in cardboard bowls from steaming kettles or fresh fryers. The fish is so fresh and had a brilliant recipe for the batter. We have also had the lambs stew, which the host INSISTED we have seconds of. It was some of the most incredible lamb I've ever had, but I think that's simply a feature of Iceland as a whole, rather than this specifically.

After, the host slyly slipped a chocolate wafer into our hands as we left. 'Save room for dessert'. With such a stern face, we were falling about laughing.

So, food is amazing thanks to freshness and amazing kitchen. The price is incredible. It's not fine dining by any stretch, but it's so cheap and so delicious! The location is great, right off the high street, and is so warm and welcoming from the cold. And the service is fast, fun, friendly and very Icelandic.

I can't recommend this place enough.
