They are have fish and... read more chips which is a local favorite. We were here in winter and this place is PACKED. However the owner and staff are wonderful. We were lucky enough to get free beer because we were there about 40 times. Eating at all you can eat soup joints is the way to eat cost effectively in Reykjavik. Also, the owner is always there and he is always smiling. The staff is hilarious and efficient. Awesome lobster soup & meat soup. Fish and chips are bad ass as well. Cheers!!

The fish and chips was also very good. Sadly, there was no cider vinegar, so had to suffer through with an excellent chili sauce on the chips. What a hardship.... no kidding, try this place out

I decided then and there to eat an early dinner there. I was warmly welcomed, given the option to sit upstairs or down. I chose downstairs near the gorgeous heater set up in the middle of the floor. I had fish & chips which was really lovely, perfectly cooked, and a very generous serving. A wide range of condiments was also offered. The food was also reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone wanting a no-fuss meal that is filling and delicious, and wanting a more casual dining experience rather than the more high end places.

  Very disappointing. Still wonder why this place is on top of the list. Mediocre food with no taste. Just don't.

  Mr Valur's hospitality is on point, the way he treats his customers is unbelievable. Great food and staff as well as great prices for such a popular area.

  My wife and I visited and really enjoyed it. They are Icelandic dishes at a very reasonable cost. The owner was taking the orders and was extremely friendly.
