Icelandic kleinur

Icelandic Kleinur
Kleinur are a very popular treat in Iceland and everyone just loves them. … A long time ago it was also an Icelandic habit, but now people eat kleinur all year round like a common, everyday pastry. Their popularity started to increase in XIX century. There is something special about the Icelandic version of doughnuts.

Mix flour and sugar in a bowl, add the baking powder. Crumble the butter into the bowl and add the eggs, milk and a few drops of cardamom spice drops. Add the sour milk and knead the dough. Form the kleinur and fry them in deep frying oil.
